RedPaper.in – Nostalgia

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language and next year’s words await another voice.
And to make and end is to make a beginning”
As a year rolls on, it leaves behind abundant memories and moments. Some memories that are worth cherishing while others that we want would disappear into oblivion. For me 2017 was one such roller coaster ride. As the last few days of this year stroll by, it leaves behind a plethora of nostalgia and a boulevard of mingled feelings
Amidst the season of carnival and merriment, as we have jostled into the terminal month, I feel like flipping through the bygone days of this year. Turning the pages of the past year is like fluttering ones fingers into a barrel full of reminiscence. For me this year started on a bitter and teary note and I thought the entire year would slog with such grievous tandem but as it says the best surprises come when you least expect it. As the glitter of the Christmas lights, the fragrance of merriment in the air, the boxes of gifts wrapped with smiles and congeniality and the spirit of enthusiasm and celebrations cajoles my troubled mind and heart it proves the old adage true that ‘ every cloud has a silver lining!, that there is light at the end of the tunnel!
I would like to thank and extend my warm regards to few people whom I came across this year. Apart from adding splendor to my otherwise dull world, they pulled me up from a certain dark trench that I had plunged into. This year had been significant and eventful enough in making me realize that a single predicament cannot draw an end to hopes as Emily Dickinson had said
“Hope is the thing with feathers
that perches in the soul
and sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all.”
Each year comes with its own share of lessons and this year I learned that no matter what one should have the conviction enough to hold on to ones dreams
‘For if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird, that cannot fly’.
So here’s wising everyone a happy and joyful new year. May this new juncture fill everybody’s life with cheerfulness and build the conviction to keep on hoping against hope.
